Stephen R. Langley

Hopkins Center Ensembles Assistant

"Mr. Langley holds the keys to your

 musical success at Dartmouth College."

Known throughout the campus for his encyclopedic knowledge of all things musical instruments, Mr. Stephen Langley is the go-to man for instrument loans and storage in the Hopkins Center.  Whether you wish to borrow a secondary instrument like the contra-bassoon or arrange a storage locker for your musical life in the Hopkins Center, Mr. Langley holds the keys to your musical success at Dartmouth College.

Stephen Langley, a graduate of the University of New Hampshire with a Bachelor of Science in Music Education, is currently the Ensemble Assistant at the Hopkins Center for the Arts at Dartmouth College in Hanover, N.H. where he provides both administrative and logistical support to the seven student performing ensembles.

Picking up the trumpet more than fifty years ago, he chose not to put it down, and consequently sought a career in music. After earning his undergraduate degree, he directed bands in Massachusetts and Maine. Returning to the Upper Valley, and following brief stints in hotel, hospital and arts management, he began his return to education and for almost a decade, trained digital mapping technicians at a local high-tech firm while pursuing his Master’s Degree in adult learning.

He kept his hand in music performance by accepting the executive directorship of the Harmony Ridge Brass Center, a resource center for professional brass players. Returning fully to the arms of academia, he most recently accepted the position at the Hopkins Center at Dartmouth. During several decades at the end of the last century and for the entirety (so far,) of this millennium, he has had the distinct pleasure of working with, and performing in the Dartmouth College Wind Ensemble.
