One common goal: Excellence in music making.

DCWE

MUSICAL EXCELLENCE

The Dartmouth College Wind Ensemble is a melting pot for the students of Dartmouth College, as well as members of the Hanover regional community. Most of our members have a major other than music at Dartmouth College, and the community musicians, professions other than music; however, each member must complete a rigorous and competitive audition for a place in the ensemble. Through this, the ensemble provides an opportunity for students to develop friendships with a more diverse group from across the Dartmouth campus, a group that shares one common goal: excellence in music making.

Constituting the finest performers of woodwind, brass and percussion instruments on the Dartmouth campus, combined with incredibly talented performers from the regional Upper Valley community, there is no limit to what can be accomplished by this fine ensemble.

An essential element to the success of the DCWE in performance and in the special projects that we take on is the investment of the student members.  While every student's presence and participation plays a critical role in the functionality of the ensemble, a few students step forward to take roles of leadership, shaping the season and seasons to come.

A passionate conductor, performer and educator, DCWE music director Matthew M. Marsit works constantly to raise this ensemble to new heights of musical achievement and to generate opportunities not previously made available to the students of Dartmouth College.
